The RFK grounds crew has been working diligently over the last 10 days to install United’s new field. Here is a first-look at the new configuration…
You can see in the last photo the crew working on putting in the permanent international goals. Soon, it will look even better when Luciano Emilio puts the ball in the back of the net. The new field makes it debut this Saturday when United takes on Cuatehcemacmonecmoc Blacno and the Chicago Fire.

When are they going to take down all the bs Washington Nationals stuff?
From: dbldn11 on October 9, 2007 @ 2:37 pm
It’s in the process of coming down, bit by bit. The net behind home plate, support cables, entire outfield wall and other small things have already been removed. Their top priority is making sure the field is ready for 22 guys to run around on.

Awesome stadium!

As someone whose real name has been misspelled and mispronounced for 40+ years, I’m disappointed that you make fun of Blanco’s name.

I believe he is making fun of the people who mispronounce it; because his last name is White, it takes a deep-thinking man to come up with the pronunciation of “black, no”.

Perhaps your parents shouldn’t have named you “I-270, Exit 1″ then. I can see how that would create problems.

Thanks for the pics!

Oh my goodness. That is quite possibly the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. More beautiful even than, yes, Bobby Boswell himself.

Take down the stupid Nats clock and put the DCU one back up.
From: Chief Clancy WIggum on October 9, 2007 @ 5:12 pm
It would really look nice if the squared off the seats, painted them black,…. The pitch looks awesome!

No one in RFK even cares what “the Frank” thinks.
Thicko.

I have an urge to just roll around on that green goodness
but I’m guessing one or several of you guys have beaten me to that one

I can’t believe how beautiful it looks. I’m not ashamed to say there are tears in my eyes. The thought of permanent goals…

WOW! I’m glad United is doing this now, hope the guys enjoy playing on this true Field of Dreams!

Will our clock ever look like a soccer ball again?

Does your fine from the league over too many cautions get picked up by United or you do pay out of pocket?
From: Michael on October 10, 2007 @ 1:07 pm
So I just got the new FIFA and im playing my first game with United and Clyde gives up a free kick from like 20 yards out and then number 32 heads it back past Perkins. What the hell man?
From: Matt on October 10, 2007 @ 1:42 pm
Lovely pitch. Do we have a sense of the dimensions the playing field will be? Looks like it could be nice and wide.

Man it’s gonna be great to be at a BRAND NEW stadium and not have to look at all the random D.C. United crap during every Nats game….And “The Frank” was at RFK long before the United was, so give some respect.
From: Pettey on October 10, 2007 @ 3:21 pm
Hey Pettey-
Who the hell is “The Frank” ? A hot-dog vendor?
The Ex-Expos will enjoy their new plaything until the attendance falls apart AGAIN and they move on to some other city dumb enough to take them. Enjoy your BLAND NEW stadium you poncey dork.

Looks so good it makes a one-legged man want to play soccer :)
From: Bart on October 11, 2007 @ 8:41 am
Pitch looks great. Excellent work by the grounds crew and wonderful pictures, thanks.
Anyone know if the Hall of Stars is going back up?
Eric some of us are both United and Nats fans. You show your ignorance with your comment. Nats have a 30 year lease in the new ballpark. No one is moving anywhere.
Now, if we can get a shiny new stadium for our guys, but have to admit, seeing the new field and these pictures makes me want to stay at RFK for a while longer.
From: DCU Man on October 11, 2007 @ 9:03 am
I am freely admitting my ignorance. Who is “The Frank”?
From: Eric on October 11, 2007 @ 11:31 am
The pitch looks great. However, I was hoping they would have push some bleachers behind the goals…that would make it even harder for teams to play you guys. GO UNITED! Tackle Blanco for me!
From: Eddie Z on October 11, 2007 @ 12:25 pm
wooooow! this is awesome to see! with the new goals and the new pitch, RFK is going to be sick! Although the new stadium plans look sweet, this will be JUST FINE until they figure it out. a soccer specific stadium that holds 45,000+ plus…god bless RFK! The finals are going to be great here. GET THOSE SEATS PAINTED BLACK AND RED FAST!
From: bryan on October 12, 2007 @ 2:06 pm
Black seats would be second only to Columbus’ bleachers when it comes to absolute worst place to sit on a hot day.
