Bobby Boswell (BobbyBoswell.com)
Part of being a professional soccer player is dealing with the changes that take place throughout the year and in the off-season. Brian Carroll was recently picked up in the expansion draft by the San Jose Earthquakes and then traded to Columbus. There is not a better professional out there than BC.
He went by many nicknames around the locker room and was a quiet (but hilarious) person. Nicknames like ‘Demo’ (short for demonstration) for his ability to perform well at every sport ever created was most commonly used. Number 14 also called him ‘Sputnik’ for some odd reason, which kind of stuck on for one reason or another.
He led by example and is just an all around stand-up guy. He was the only guy who could give Josh a run for his money in fitness drills. And I also think he won the cleanest locker award every year.
I will miss him as a teammate and friend. We put together a little video of BC, who was always contributing to our success here at United. Enjoy.

What about the Play-off PK winner against Reis in 2004 against New England?

Now, I have to get a new DC jersey, since my #16 is no longer there. I am sorry to see Brian go. I thought he did a lot for the team and was an unsung hero for United.

Brian, you will be missed. Your run vs. New England this year and your goal vs. Columbus last year are definitely some of the greatest moments in United history. Thanks for everything!
